A highly stylised yet functional object d'art, this rare cocktail shaker from 1930's Germany clearly takes its design from the blimps or 'Zepellin's' of the same era. Marked 'D.R.G.M.' - Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster - which simply put means this design was officially registered in all German states, protected only for its use or design for a period of 3 years, not patented. Also known as 'Kleines Reichspatent' (small imperial patent) the D.R.G.M. registration was widely looked down upon in Germany as it meant the manufacturer could not afford the excessive fees involved to process it, which was the case for many factories during the war.
This design can be found in multiple variants under 'D.R.G.M' as a result, this example holding a particular charm in its generously patinated silver plated body contrasted with bright chrome domed end cap, and accompanying accessories that very satisfyingly stack on top and inside one another.
