A remarkably versatile designer, Sidse Werner was both an architect and industrial designer, eventually setting up her own studio in 1970. Although best known for her designs for the Danish furniture giant Fritz Hansen, she also provided glassware concepts for Holmegaard. This included the 'Regiment' series, from which this exquisite crystal glass decanter was born.
The heavy handblown form could so easily be clunky and cumbersome, yet the intentionally placed central band and trapped air bubbles in both the thick base and stopper give the piece an overall sense of weightlessness. It's not entirely clear glass either - instead Werner has coloured this in the most subtle of sky blues, a testament to her eye for detail.
