Large Casserole Dish, Mireille & Noël Dailler, Blanot, France. 1970s.
Large Casserole Dish, Mireille & Noël Dailler, Blanot, France. 1970s.
A piece of fabulous and immediately impactful scale, this lidded casserole dish is phenomenally executed.
The makers mark 'Blanot' inscribed to the underside, along with the distinctive glaze that graces the bold form, confirms this as a piece produced by French potters Mireille and Noël Dailler. Both artists were born in 1939, studying at the Geneva School of Decorative Arts prior to establishing their workshop together.
The main objective of the Burgundy based studio was to create utility pieces designed with great attention, both in the finishing of the shape and in the decoration of the stoneware. This particular piece is quite large, featuring organic lug handles and a cascading glaze that ranges from burnt red and inky blue to pale green. Most likely made in the 1970s at the very latest, and in genuinely immaculate condition.
