Pair of ship oil lamps, Ilse D. Ammonsen, Daproma, Denmark. 1950’s.
A pair of brass ‘Gyro’ oil lamps made for nautical travel. Some also note the design being named ‘Copenhagen’, most-likely due to the relation between the port city and the gyro lamps offering stable light on the waves. Each light is handmade with incredible precision. The lamps can burn with a wick secured in the paraffin chamber, or simply remove the wick holder and place a dinner candle. As well as swinging on the gyroscope, the height of the lamp is adjustable via a screw holding the position. Both lamps are stamped/ stickered with ‘DAPROMA design - handmade in DENMARK’ and inscribed with Ammonsen’s trademark. Both showcasing varying signs of age and patina to the surface.
