A flatweave or ‘kilim’ rug featuring a mirrored geometric floral motif. A large rectangular border of flowers and chevrons of a multitude of colours paint this oatmeal white rug. Each row of flowers is divided by brown striped columns, conveying a methodical pattern. These ‘watercolour’ gradient hues are fine examples of the Swedish palette in textiles and modern paintings, most notably with the works of MMF (Märta Måås-Fjetterstrōm) and later Barbro Nilsen. On closer inspection, each element in the design showcases skilled weaving through the gradients of each base colour and the execution of an elegant symmetry.
