Studio pottery teapot, Denmark. 1950's.
Studio pottery teapot, Denmark. 1950's.
Likely produced in Denmark, this lidded stoneware teapot is quite typical of ceramics produced in Scandinavia in the middle of the 20th century. The simple arched cane handle and bold silhouette showcases plenty of Japanese influence that swept the world of Nordic pottery at the time. The pale glaze is quite strikingly contrasted by two rows of dark chevrons outlined by a bleed of verdigris green. The spout sharply terminates just above this pattern, which does show subtle signs of historical repair where it meets the vessel body.
Overall in lovely vintage condition for display, a fine addition to any interior.
