Designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for Rörstand, Sweden, a handled vase produced in the 1950s.
This hour-glass like vase/water jug follows Stålhane’s exploration into modern architectural forms; stronger lines in the silhouette, rather than traditional curvature. This style emphasises a notable presence, balanced with the addition of a well-placed handle. An earthy umber glaze rises from the bottom of the piece and leads into darker hues like rising smoke. A haresfur glaze is subtly present, however, there is a strong use of umber on the handle/‘back’ of the piece.
